Tottenham discuss last-gasp Antoine Semenyo transfer ahead of September deadline

Tottenham are considering a move for Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo in the final days of the transfer window.

Thomas Frank is keen to add another attacker to his options, after James Maddison underwent surgery on an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament.

Spurs had looked set to sign Eberechi Eze before Arsenal hijacked the move and signed the midfielder instead.

Time is running out for decision-makers at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, however, with the transfer window set to slam shut on Monday, 1 September.

Spurs discuss sensational move for Antoine Semenyo

Such is the desperation for an addition of creativity before the window closes, Spurs failed with an initial £60million bid for Nico Paz.

The bid ultimately resulted in a waste of time for the Premier League club, with the midfielder keen to stay at Como ahead of a future move back to Real Madrid.

Pressure is mounting on the higher-ups at Spurs, with their list of options seemingly being whittled down day after day.

The latest name under consideration is that of Semenyo, who had been linked with a move to both North London clubs earlier in the window.

The winger ultimately ended up signing a new contract at the Vitality Stadium, extending his deal until 2030.

But Fabrizio Romano has now reported that Semenyo’s name has been mentioned internally at Tottenham in the last 24 hours, although any deal will be difficult.

Antoine Semenyo deal would require significant outlay

Semenyo has established himself among the Premier League’s most dangerous wingers over the last 12 months.

The 25-year-old scored 11 goals and provided six assists in the league last season, and has got this season off to a superb start too, scoring a brace against Liverpool on the opening day.

But Bournemouth have already lost several key players this summer, and would be unlikely to be willing to lose another this close to the end of the window.

With the Cherries in town on Saturday, it could open the door to sensational late talks.

If Spurs were to have any chance of twisting their arm, they would have to certainly break their transfer record, if not exceed it by more than £20m.
