Tottenham consider record bid to sign Wharton amid £100m transfer update
Adam Wharton has long been linked with a move to Tottenham.
The Crystal Palace midfielder has impressed since his transfer to the London club in February 2024.
His performances helped Palace win the FA Cup last season, the Eagles’ first-ever major trophy. As a result, Tottenham are one of many teams keen on Wharton this summer.
However, Palace have no desire to sell the England international during this transfer window.

Tottenham ‘not put off’ by Wharton’s price tag
Given that Wharton still has four years left on his contract, Tottenham will have to pay a hefty fee to acquire the midfielder.
Reports have indicated that Palace want £100m for Wharton if they are to depart with their star man.
However, according to Give Me Sport (14 July), Tottenham are “not put off” by this price tag.

While Spurs have acknowledged that it will be tough to convince Palace to sell Wharton, they are continuing to keep tabs on the midfielder.
As a result, if negotiations do commence, any sale would make him the most expensive signing in Tottenham’s history.

Frank needs to be cautious over potential Wharton deal
While it is clear that Frank is a huge fan of Wharton, the Dane needs to remain cautious. Palace’s demands are ridiculous for a player who has only completed one and a half seasons in the Premier League.
If Tottenham are to pursue Wharton, they have to negotiate this price down significantly. If this is not possible, there are plenty of other targets out there who are available for less.
While these players may not be of the same quality as Wharton, it would free up funds that can be directed to other areas of the squad. Now, Frank must think carefully about his next move as the 51-year-old looks to significantly improve Spurs’ midfield options.
