Tottenham close in on blockbuster Xavi Simons transfer agreement as Chelsea update emerges
Tottenham have suffered in the transfer market this summer, but that is all about to change with Xavi Simons.
Spurs have missed out on Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze, with the Lilywhites desperate to land an attacking midfielder.
With Tottenham and Chelsea battling it out to sign Simons, the 22-year-old is in London with a move imminent.
Now, it appears that the North London club are set to pip their rivals to Simons after the latest news.

Tottenham close to agreeing Xavi Simons deal
Spurs could be set to hijack Chelsea’s move to sign Simons, which would provide some welcome relief to supporters.
The Netherlands international has been linked with a move away from RB Leipzig despite only joining them on a permanent basis in January.
He initially joined the Bundesliga side on loan in the summer of 2023 before completing a £43.2million switch a year and a half later.
- Simons has 46 goal contributions in 78 appearances for Leipzig
- He has five goals in 28 international appearances
- The 22-year-old came through the ranks at PSG
Now, Spurs are close to completing a deal to sign Simons, according to Matt Law on 28 August.
The Daily Telegraph correspondent reports that positive talks have been held with RB Leipzig and Simons ahead of the Monday deadline.
However, until the transfer is confirmed, there is bound to be nervousness over Chelsea’s threat.

Why do Spurs need to sign Xavi Simons?
Tottenham were crying out for creativity at the end of last season, with injuries exposing their flaws.
Moreover, Frank will be without James Maddison for six to nine months after he ruptured his ACL in pre-season.
Maddison has provided a creative spark for the Lilywhites over the years, but has often been absent through injury.
There is also the matter of filling Dejan Kulusevski’s sizeable boots; the Sweden international could be missing until the New Year and has been one of Spurs’ best players for some time.
With that in mind, the North London club need more options in forward areas, and Simons certainly fits the bill.
