Tottenham a ‘realistic’ option to sign Conor Gallagher in January
Tottenham could be at the top of the list of options for Conor Gallagher in January despite the majority of the Premier League being interested in him.
Tottenham were thought to be after Gallagher through the summer just a year after he left Chelsea for La Liga but a deal didn’t happen.
Former boss Ange Postecoglou was known to be a big fan of the Atletico Madrid midfielder but with Thomas Frank‘s side currently floundering there might be a route to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium yet.
Tottenham were beaten 4-1 by Arsenal on Sunday in a damaging North London derby where Eberechi Eze‘s hat-trick compounded Spurs’ failure to sign him in the last window.

Conor Gallagher wants top team playing in Europe to return
According to an update from Sky Sports the vast majority of clubs in the Premier League have expressed an interested in Gallagher, with only his former side Chelsea, plus Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City not having done so.
Top flight sides are reportedly expected to queue up for a potential deal for the 25-year-old once the transfer window re-opens in January.
After summer enquiries were rebuffed by Atleti on the basis that they weren’t interested in doing a loan deal the same situation applies now, with a permanent deal worth north of the approximately £35 million he cost them a possibility.
However, it is believed Gallagher, who has admitted he is unsatisfied with his game time in Spain as things stand, wants to play for a “top club” who are in European competition if he is to move and make a late bid to get into Thomas Tuchel’s England squad for the World Cup.

Only a few of the “bigger teams” in England are therefore “realistic” options – Spurs and Newcastle are the only Champions League sides in the picture.
Thomas Frank must be decisive in January
Assuming Frank makes it to the window and isn’t dramatically sacked in the mean time he needs to move quickly and clearly to sort out his side.
Tottenham have been told to get a deal done for Antoine Semenyo ASAP after getting burned so badly over Eze, and if Gallagher, who is said to want to move back to London, is on the manager’s mind he could be theirs for the taking.
Diego Simeone doesn’t seem him as a regular starter and if Frank wants his industry in midfield then £40m or even less is hardly bank-breaking for an England international with Premier League experience.
Newcastle would clearly be a threat, while Aston Villa and Gallagher’s former loan side Crystal Palace might be outside bets while in the Europa League.
Frank has midfield options but Yves Bissouma has been out of the picture all season, and James Maddison is too, so it might fit.
