Timo Werner in Premier League transfer twist after £10.1m Tottenham decision
Timo Werner faces an uncertain future at Tottenham after failing to impress during his second loan spell away from RB Leipzig.
Werner earned himself a season-long loan at Tottenham after impressing during a shorter stint last season, with Ange Postecoglou’s side even agreeing to potentially make the deal permanent.
However, the Germany international has failed to make the most of his second chance in England, netting just one goal in 27 appearances across all competitions.
The attacker’s last goal contribution for Spurs was an assist in the 1-1 draw against Fulham at home in the Premier League in December.

Werner receive Premier League enquiries after Spurs snub
Tottenham have therefore already made up their mind on signing Werner permanently, turning down the chance to buy him for £10.1million – a sum slightly more than the initially reported figure of £8.5m.
According to Florian Plettenberg, the 29-year-old will now return to Leipzig when his loan deal in North London expires at the end of the season.
The Sky Sports Germany journalist reported via his personal X account on Friday (14 March) that Werner’s future at Leipzig will depend on who possibly replaces Marco Rose as their manager.
Competition | Matches | Minutes | Goals | Assists |
Premier League | 18 | 508′ | – | 3 |
UEFA Europa League | 5 | 186′ | – | – |
FA Cup | 1 | 90′ | – | – |
EFL Cup | 3 | 161′ | 1 | – |
Meanwhile, Werner has become the subject of transfer enquiries from clubs in the Premier League, as well as the Major League Soccer (MLS).
A transfer to another club in the Bundesliga is not under consideration by the ex-Chelsea attacker, however.

Much will depend on who succeeds Marco Rose if the coach leaves RB in the summer.

Tottenham to get rid of Werner
It became evident that Tottenham do not plan to buy Werner after he left him out of their Europa League squad before the knockout phase.
The German was even linked with a move away from Spurs in the winter transfer window, with the MLS mooted as a potential destination.
However, it is a surprise that he has had enquiries from the Premier League itself.
It will be interesting to see if such a transfer comes to fruition, considering he has already flopped at two English clubs.
