Thomas Frank to thank as Tottenham set to sign player who left John Terry ‘gutted’
Tottenham are on the verge of making their first transfer breakthrough of the month.
Thomas Frank is under major pressure at Tottenham, with his side winless in four and rapidly losing pace in the race for European football for next season and are now out of the FA Cup too.
Tottenham’s hierarchy are standing by Frank for the time being, however, but know they will need to back the Dane in the remaining weeks of the transfer window to give him the best chance of turning the ship around.
But, after a frustrating start to the window which has seen no new signings arrive, Tottenham are now expected to conclude numerous deals in the coming days.
Tottenham owe Conor Gallagher deal to Thomas Frank
Conor Gallagher is expected to sign for Tottenham, with the 25-year-old midfielder understood to be finalising a £34million move to Spurs after previously looking bound for Aston Villa.
This would be a statement signing for the Lilywhites, as Gallagher has proven himself to be a classy player at Premier League level with Chelsea, and will undoubtedly be eyeing a big second half of the season in an attempt to force his way into Thomas Tuchel’s thinking ahead of England’s 2026 World Cup adventure this summer.

However, in a report from The Telegraph, it’s been reported that Gallagher wouldn’t be joining Tottenham if it wasn’t for Frank.
It’s claimed that Frank personally called up the central midfielder to sell him on a move to N17 over Aston Villa, and it looks as though his sales pitch has worked.
Gallagher is now expected to sign a long-term contract with Tottenham, after Frank convinced him on his vision for him, and Spurs’ plans for the future.
John Terry never wanted Gallagher to leave Chelsea
Reading the testimony’s of people closely involved with a player upon their departure from a certain club always offer a vital insight into just how highly-rated said player is, and what kind of talent their new side will be getting.
In terms of Chelsea voices, few are respected more than John Terry’s, and he made it abundantly clear that he was far from pleased to see Gallagher leave Stamford Bridge for Atletico Madrid in the summer of 2024.
Terry responded to Gallagher’s farewell post on Instagram at the time by saying: “Gutted to see you go mate. Good luck @conorgallagher92.”
- Gallagher made 95 appearances for Chelsea
- He scored 10 goals for the Blues
- He’s made 77 appearances for Atletico, scoring seven goals
So, with long-term injuries to Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison, Gallagher could instantly walk into Tottenham’s starting XI and provide a really shrewd addition to Frank’s midfield.
