Thomas Frank key as Tottenham could raid Brentford again for ‘perfect’ player

Tottenham’s summer transfer business will alter drastically depending on whether Thomas Frank is still in charge come the end of the season.

Frank appeared to be on the verge of being sacked by Tottenham following the 2-1 home loss to a struggling West Ham side at the weekend.

However, Spurs bounced back with a 2-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Frank is now set to stay in charge of Spurs for at least the match at Burnley on Saturday, although it does seem to be taken on a game-by-game basis for now.

That is far from ideal for Tottenham transfer chiefs as they already start to put plans in place for the summer window.

Tottenham could set sets on Brentford defender Nathan Collins

Tottenham have dedicated staff to oversee transfer matters, headed by Johan Lange, but that is not to say the manager does not have a say in incoming and outgoing activity.

And according to a report by the Daily Mail on Wednesday, the wheels are already in motion in terms of the summer window.

The big takeaway from the report is that Liverpool could test Tottenham’s resolve for defender Micky van de Ven.

However, it is also mentioned that Frank likes Brentford skipper Nathan Collins and a move to Spurs in the summer window could therefore be possible.

But that will depend on whether the Dane is still in charge at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium come then, as it is likely he who will push for that deal.

What has Thomas Frank previously said about Collins?

Frank worked with Collins for a couple of seasons at Brentford, with the centre-back having arrived from Wolves.

Collins revealed upon joining the West London side in August 2023 that Frank played a big part in his decision to join.

And Frank himself regularly praised the 24-year-old and defended him when he had some disappointing games.

“He’s been a very positive player for us,” Frank said after one particularly poor display, adding: “It will never be as bad as that.”

Frank also described Collins as a “perfect” player for Brentford, summing up just how fond he is of the defender.

Some will raise eyebrows at the prospect of Collins joining, but many more are expecting Frank to be sacked first so it will likely not matter.
