Richarlison sends thank you message amid £5m Tottenham exit revelation

Richarlison posted a heartfelt message thanking those involved at Tottenham after a turbulent season.

The Brazilian international endured another injury-ravaged campaign, though he recovered in time to play a crucial role in Tottenham’s Europa League triumph.

Ange Postecoglou has spoken glowingly of Richarlison’s work ethic and placed his trust in the striker in the biggest games of the Australian’s career, but could only do so a handful of times this season.

The 28-year-old has generally found himself in Dominic Solanke‘s shadow even when he was fully fit, starting the last three games on the left, leading to talks of his exit from Spurs.

Richarlison indicates he wants to stay in heartfelt post

Initially signed for £60m from Everton, Richarlison was brought as Harry Kane‘s understudy to offer the England international some reprieve up front.

Things did not work out as planned for the player or the club, as injuries blighted his time in the capital, limiting the striker to just 34 starts and 70 appearances in total in the Premier League over three years.

This season was the least productive of his tenure in North London. Nevertheless, Richarlison took to Instagram (26 May) to share his gratitude to everyone involved at the club.

The post mentioned how the 2019 Copa America winner wanted to repay Spurs for the faith they showed him and shared the joy of finishing the season on a high with the Europa League trophy.

He ended the post with “Thank you to everyone who has been by my side and part of this special moment, always believing me and encouraging me even in the most difficult moments.

“Thank you to Tottenham – management, players, technical committee, staff – and my whole staff – for making it happen together!

“And we’re going for more!”

The message not only shows the former Everton player’s appreciation for the club, but also strongly indicates he wishes to stay despite talks of an exit.

Tottenham must move on from Richarlison

Tottenham have been guilty of a few transfer mishaps since the latter stages of the Pochettino era which have proved costly to the clubs fortunes.

While the losses they experienced on players like Tanguy Ndombele would have hurt the club, they must be clinical in moving ill-suited players on if they are to progress.

Postecoglou’s arrival coincided with a mass clear-out, which is set to continue as Spurs could be willing to accept as little as £5m for Richarlison.

The striker has formed a strong bond with the Lilywhites due to his combative nature, but even his most ardent fans would accept that the Spurs goalscorer is too unreliable.
