Mathys Tel transfer twist emerges after intense Tottenham news

Tottenham Hotspur are in need of big-name signings this summer as they prepare for life in the Champions League again.

Spurs have already confirmed a handful of players departing north London, with the likes of Sergio Reguilon and Timo Werner being shown the back door.

Ange Postecoglou appears to be getting closer to the sack, with changes in the boardroom also sending shockwaves through Hotspur Way.

Despite this, progress on transfers hasn’t stopped, with Mathys Tel the main subject.

Tel ready for Tottenham transfer

Florian Plettenberg has reported on X that Tottenham want to keep Tel in North London after he was loaned in February from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.

Bayern prefer a permanent sale at this moment, but a new idea is for Spurs to agree on another loan, this time with an obligation to buy the Frenchman.

Tottenham have been locked in intense talks already over the best possible solution, it has been said.

He was brought to the Lilywhites as Postecoglou was suffering from the insane injury crisis midway through the season, with just an option to purchase at that time.

Will Tel be a good move for all parties?

Spurs have a strong core of young players at the club, the likes of Archie Gray, Mikey Moore and Lucas Bergvall.

With Tel only being 20 years old, he is one for the future.

In his first few months at Tottenham, Tel struggled with not making an immediate impact, but did show signs of promise at a difficult time.

But as a young player in a new league, it was always going to take time to hit the ground running.

After settling in at Spurs, his performances improved towards the end of the season and helped them win their first trophy in 17 years.

With Son Heung-min being linked with a possible exit again, Tel could be one of his replacements, but if the captain stays, Tel has the perfect mentor.

The France under-21 international’s talent would make it a good move for all parties, and if Spurs can seal another loan, it only delays forking out a massive fee right now.
