Marinakis ‘rages at Gibbs-White’ after new reveal on Tottenham transfer
Morgan Gibbs-White’s potential transfer to Tottenham has hit a massive snag.
The Europa League winners were set to trigger the 25-year-old’s £60million release clause on Thursday; however, that has proven controversial.
Nottingham Forest believed that the clause was confidential, and Spurs have been accused of an illegal transfer approach and could face legal action.
Forest are believed to be willing to block the deal by any means necessary as they had not given Thomas Frank’s side permission to speak to their star man.
Evangelos Marinakis was not happy.

Tottenham to remain calm over Gibbs-White deal
Marinakis is one of the most controversial owners in the Premier League, and he is often criticising officials and getting angry about something.
Alex Crook has revealed that the Lilywhites are not concerned about the potential of the transfer falling apart, despite the Greek’s fury due to the circumstances of the approach.
Speaking on talkSPORT (14 July, 7:56 am), he said: “Tottenham are remaining calm, I think a lot of Marinakis’ frustration, from what I’m told, actually is with the player himself, who gave his word, that he would only leave Forest this summer for a certain calibre of club.
“Like Manchester City, Arsenal, a Liverpool, maybe.
“I think Forest are surprised that he wants to join Tottenham and Marinakis is throwing his toys out of the pram, not for the first time.”
Gibbs-White would be an exceptional signing for Tottenham
Gibbs-White has emerged as one of the best attacking midfielders in the top flight in recent years, and he is ready to take the step up.
Tottenham are moving seriously in the transfer window, with the signing of Mohammed Kudus already completed, and the Forest star looked set to be the next star through the door.

However, it seems like Daniel Levy and Co will have to play the long game to secure his signature, as Marinakis will fight tooth and nail to keep his man.
Surely, it is just a case of waiting it out, for the drama to die down and then moving again, potentially having to pay a premium to keep him sweet and allow the deal to take place eventually.
Gibbs-White notched seven goals and eight assists in the league last season, and those numbers would likely increase with the likes of Dominic Solanke, Son Heung-min and Kudus alongside him.
One thing is for sure, it is an encouraging time to be a Spurs fan, Champions League football is allowing them to attract top-calibre talents, and they do not look like stopping yet after their latest moves.
