Man United to sanction Rashford loan amid Tottenham transfer talk – Spurs hero

Manchester United will sanction a loan move for Tottenham target Marcus Rashford, according to Michael Dawson.

The Lilywhites are among those interested in acquiring Rashford this month and have opened preliminary talks with Manchester United regarding a short-term loan move [The Independent].

A decision on his future was expected on Wednesday (15 January), as per Gianluca Di Marzio, but while no imminent word has left Old Trafford, Dawson shared live on Sky Sports News (18 January, 7:12pm) his belief that the Red Devils will seek a loan move but feels not all is as seems.

He said: “Whenever we talk about Manchester United, good or bad, bad in recent years, it’s always evolving around Marcus Rashford [even when] he’s not involved. He’s not even involved, and we’re still talking about him, he hasn’t played now for so many weeks.

“He’s taken so much pressure on his young shoulders – look, has he conducted himself in the right way? Has the application in training been right? Clearly not. Because [Ruben] Amorim would have had him involved, he’s started really well.

“So he’s got to look at himself, but a move away would be the best thing for both parties. The problem is going to be the money, I think it’ll be a loan, and Manchester United will have to pay the majority of that for him to get out and play some football. Because while this is happening, his value is going one way, and that’s down, and he can bring that back when he plays.”

Tottenham must push to sign Marcus Rashford

Would Marcus Rashford immediately improve the current Tottenham squad? The short answer is yes.

The 27-year-old has been scapegoated throughout his entire career in Manchester, but his ability on the pitch speaks for itself.

There is a reason Manchester United opted to pay the Englishman a reported £325,000-a-week, albeit a decision the board will regret as his wages prove to be a major sticking point in a future move.

However, the longer the saga drags on at Old Trafford, the more likely Jim Ratcliffe will bite the bullet and pay most of the wages to ensure Rashford is off the books.

In the likelihood of this occurring, Daniel Levy must do everything within his power to fend off AC Milan and convince the forward that his future remains in the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou is struggling in North London – while his side has scored 43 goals in 21 fixtures, the 32 goals conceded are a prime example of the nature of the football at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – Spurs are closer to the relegation zone than they are to the European spots.

In his last Premier League appearance, Rashford scored a brace in a 4-0 win against Everton and should he be given the right environment to thrive, he can become a force to be reckoned with once again.
