‘Levy to have last laugh’ after latest Gibbs-White to Tottenham reveal

Daniel Levy will be rubbing his hands in glee at the latest Morgan Gibbs-White to Tottenham reveal.

The Tottenham chairman has been on a roller coaster of a ride since deciding to pursue Gibbs-White.

Indeed, the 63-year-old thought he had struck gold when he agreed personal terms with the midfielder. But a team with Gibbs-White and Mohammed Kudus may have been too much for football to handle, as Nottingham Forest stopped the transfer in its tracks.

However, it seems Levy is set to have the last laugh after the most recent development pertaining to his signing.

Tottenham remain ‘confident’ of getting Gibbs-White deal done

As reported by The Mirror (12 July), Tottenham remain confident that they can secure the signing of Gibbs-White.

This comes after Forest were angered by the approach taken by the North London club and have taken legal action. The Midlands side insists they have not permitted Spurs to speak to the midfielder and are willing to go the extra mile to prevent the transfer.

Premier League rules state that clubs are not allowed to enter talks with players under contract with another team unless given permission.

As a result, there are question marks around Spurs’ intentions to trigger Gibbs-White’s £60million release clause and schedule a medical.

While the outcome of the complaint is still to be heard, it has been suggested that Forest will be “powerless” to stop the transfer.

Furthermore, it has been reported that Spurs will not face a transfer ban even if found to have tapped up the Forest forward.

Gibbs-White would be an excellent signing

There was an element of shock when Spurs’ intention to sign Gibbs-White was revealed to the football masses.

With constant updates on signings from multiple sources, the announcement of new transfers has lost that shock factor to a degree. But reports about the Forest star felt as if they had come out of nowhere.

As such, Tottenham could be in for another competitive season if they get the transfer over the line. Adding Gibbs-White alongside Kudus would give the club the attacking firepower they lacked at times last season.

Therefore, Levy should be doing everything he can to complete the signing before the end of the summer window.
