‘I’ve heard…’ – Lucas Moura tells Tottenham to sign ‘wonderful’ teammate set to cost record fee

Lucas Moura is still well loved by the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium faithful.

The winger enjoyed a highly successful spell at Spurs, where he played over 200 matches for the London club.

His most iconic moment is no doubt his hat-trick against Ajax in the Champions League semi-finals, which sent Tottenham into the final.

Now in Brazil at Sao Paulo, the 32-year-old has weighed in Spurs’ transfer activity this summer.

Lucas Moura tells Tottenham to sign Rodrygo

Rodrygo has been linked with Tottenham throughout the summer.

The Real Madrid star has been touted as Son Heung-min’s potential replacement after the South Korean international moved to the MLS.

However, the Brazilian international will not come cheap, with Tottenham rumoured to have bid £87.1million for Rodrygo last week.

This is despite the attacker seemingly falling out of favour in the Spanish capital, with many other stars preferred in the starting XI.

Now, Lucas has told Tottenham to sign his Brazilian international teammate, insisting that the 24-year-old would be a “wonderful” buy for the London club.

He told AS on 12 August: “I’ve heard about that rumour, but I don’t know if it’s true or not. Rodrygo’s arrival would be wonderful for Tottenham, and he’d certainly like to play in the Premier League for a team that, as I said, has a fantastic structure.

“A team that’s getting stronger and stronger, growing to compete in Europe. It would be good for both sides, but it won’t be easy for Rodrygo to leave Real Madrid, given the interest from other clubs.”

Can Rodrygo replace Son Heung-min?

With Son now gone, it will be a massive task for Thomas Frank to find a replacement for the former captain.

However, Rodrygo would be a good bet to replace the South Korean international.

According to Fbref on 12 August, the Brazilian had better stats than Son last season in multiple areas.

While it must be remembered that the former Spurs man was past his peak, it is still a positive sign ahead of the potential move.

Hopefully, Frank ups his pursuit of Rodrygo over the next few weeks as the end of the transfer window edges closer.
