Hugo Lloris will simply love who Tottenham are now in talks to sign

Tottenham have endured a rather mixed transfer window so far, it is fair to say.

Spurs completed the early signing of Mohammed Kudus, and he has already looked like a solid addition.

However, Thomas Frank’s side missed out on Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze amid the injury to James Maddison.

Now, though, the North Londoners are in talks to sign a big name, and former captain Hugo Lloris will be absolutely thrilled.

Tottenham in talks to sign Adrien Rabiot

Rabiot was linked with a move to Tottenham last year, but he ended up joining Ligue 1 side Marseille.

However, this summer, the midfielder is available again, having been involved in a dressing room bust-up with teammate Jonathan Rowe.

Manager Roberto De Zerbi reportedly had to separate the pair along with the French club’s sporting director Mehdi Benatia.

Now, Tottenham are in talks with Rabiot’s entourage, according to Fabrice Hawkins on 26 August.

The journalist reports that Aston Villa are in the same position as Spurs, while the French international is also of interest to AC Milan.

Rabiot was a consistent performer for Marseille last season and made significant contributions in front of goal.

However, now he is set for a fresh challenge and could be about to follow in the footsteps of Lloris, who has spoken admirably about his former teammate.

What Hugo Lloris has said about Adrien Rabiot

Lloris and Rabiot have played alongside each other for France, representing their country together in the World Cup and the Euros.

Indeed, it appears that the goalkeeper was a big fan of the midfielder during their time together, judging from his words.

The former Tottenham shot-stopper highlighted Rabiot’s readiness to fill in for the absent Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante at the World Cup.

“Adrien has this profile. After what he has been doing for a few months with Juventus, this opportunity at the World Cup comes at the right time. He is ready, he proved it against Australia,” said Lloris via Football Italia in November 2022.

“He scored that goal and provided that assist. It shows his involvement and his impact. We also know his talent and his ability to work hard. He competes a lot, he is elegant, always available. He can help our team go far.”

Of course, substantial time has passed since that period, but the central-midfielder demonstrated last season how he can still produce at the highest level.

Furthermore, Frank needs more depth in his midfield, meaning Rabiot could be just the tonic for the Dane.
