How Tottenham can get Christian Pulisic deal over the line: Who will be sold and replaced?

Tottenham are being heavily linked with AC Milan star Christian Pulisic ahead of an ambitious summer transfer move.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes on Friday, the Lilywhites are leading the race to sign the American and could strike a deal to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium soon.

Internal figures at Spurs are in agreement that the forward’s past Premier League experience with Chelsea could be vital in their quest for short-term and long-term success.

Pulisic is gaining interest from the likes of Arsenal, Manchester United, and Liverpool, but Johan Lange is keen to beat off competition to land the exciting striker.

However, Tottenham will need to make space for the attacker, with several players now at risk in N17.

Who will Tottenham sell and replace for Christian Pulisic?

Pulisic has transformed into a number nine since making the move from England to Italy, but he still very much holds the ability to play on the left flank.

If the 27-year-old was brought to Spurs to play as a left-winger, Wilson Odobert could be an instant casualty. This is because the Frenchman’s new ACL injury will surely have caused further doubt about his ability to be a long-term success, and he may be sold to raise funds.

Mathys Tel could then see a reduced play time as a result, as the young attacker has so far been unable to take his limited chances at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

As highlighted by the Sofascore graphic above, Tel has an average rating of 6.73 in the league and may take some more years to develop into a game-winning player.

It’s much more likely that if Tottenham signed Pulisic, the American would be utilised on the wings due to the physical demands of the Premier League. But if he were to be used as a striker, Richarlison could be transfer-listed or sold.

What can Pulisic bring to Tottenham?

Pulisic was known for his electrifying pace at Chelsea, but never really established himself as a goal scorer in England.

But his time in Italy has helped him develop into the player that he was meant to be, and he is now a key player of AC Milan’s title-challenging side.

As seen in the table above, Pulisic’s attacking output has greatly increased in Italy, and looks all but set to come back to England.

If Tottenham were able to land the versatile talisman, they would be getting a player who has the ability to create and score goals in crunch matches.

He is certainly the profile of a player that the Lilywhites have missed over the past few years.
