Gibbs-White transfer heartbreak set as Tottenham ‘will have answer within hours’

Tottenham will hope to have some clarity soon regarding a transfer for Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

Spurs looked set to sign the England international after triggering his £60million release clause, but the Tricky Trees expressed their discontent with the move.

The North London outfit’s move for the 25-year-old is on standby, but developments in the case are expected soon.

Tottenham to know Gibbs-White Premier League complaint reality by Monday

Tottenham may know by Monday (14 July) whether Forest have submitted a complaint to the Premier League regarding Gibbs-White’s transfer, Alasdair Gold says.

The football.london journalist revealed that neither club have commented on whether an issue has been raised with the English top-flight’s authorities over Spurs’ approach for the English midfielder.

Gold disclosed that the North Londoners are hopeful of completing a deal for the midfielder, which would come as a heartbreak for the Tricky Trees, who have already sold Anthony Elanga to Newcastle United.

Answering fan questions during a Q&A on football.london (13 July), the journalist wrote: “Neither club is commenting on the situation and the Premier League also declined to comment when I approached them today about whether a complaint has actually been lodged by Forest.

“Spurs are believed to be hopeful the deal will go through eventually, while Forest are distinctly unimpressed by the whole thing, as they could lose both Gibbs-White and Anthony Elanga in the space of a handful of days, which won’t go down well with their fans.

“I would imagine Monday will bring with it far more answers in terms of whether a complaint has been formally submitted with the Premier League and whether anything of a legal nature has truly begun, or whether it was simply considered and found to be fruitless.”

Tottenham may not be pleased with Forest for halting communication, as they appeared close to completing a move for Gibbs-White.

The Tricky Trees arguably can’t expect the England international to be satisfied with the situation either and should sanction his transfer before facing a fallout.

Thomas Frank should ask for other targets at Tottenham

Spurs should shift focus to other targets like Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze while the prospect of signing the Forest midfielder is delayed.

Tottenham have completed an impressive transfer for Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United, but fans expect more quality additions.

The North London outfit will be playing Champions League football next season, and Thomas Frank will undoubtedly need a competitive squad to have a chance at winning silverware.

Spurs should be relaxed about the Gibbs-White situation, and only time will tell whether the Tricky Trees have any real argument to back their case.
