Gary Neville stunned as Ian Wright drops shock Harry Kane return claim

Ian Wright has caused a stir with his claim about Tottenham hero Harry Kane ahead of the new Premier League season kicking off.

Kane, 32, left the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in August 2023 to join Bayern Munich after years of exit links.

It is fair to say that Kane has been a success in Germany, winning a Bundesliga title, while also netting 85 goals in Bavaria.

With that being said, Wright has now suggested that a return could be on the cards, something which has certainly left Gary Neville surprised.

Wright backs Kane for January return

It did come as a blow when Kane scored against Spurs for Bayern Munich against them in pre-season, two years after completing a move away.

The England international didn’t celebrate, as expected, despite Thomas Frank’s side struggling against Bayern at the Allianz Arena.

With this sign of respect to his former club, many have questioned whether a Lilywhites return could be on the cards for the elite striker.

This could especially be the case after the N17 outfit started Richarlison in the Super Cup against PSG on Wednesday night (13 August).

It appears that the chances of seeing the forward back in English football could be on the cards after Wright’s prediction on Stick to Football (14 August).

He said: “I’m going to go with Harry Kane coming back to the Premier League.”

Neville responded in shock, saying: “This season? In January? Oh wow.”

Tottenham could face Kane in the Premier League

Despite Dominic Solanke missing the clash against PSG, it is fair to say that he will be the main number nine in North London this campaign.

Having netted 16 in his debut campaign for the Lilywhites, it would be a bold move to swap him out for a much older alternative right now.

That is exactly what Kane would prove to be for Spurs, given the fact that he is now 32, regardless of his ability in front of goal.

To pay the sort of fee that Bayern would demand, as well as the Englishman’s wages, feels unlikely given Daniel Levy’s usual cost-cutting measures.

If the Lilywhites weren’t to show an interest, it would be interesting to see where the number nine could end up across the Premier League.
