Forest turn to Juventus after Gibbs-White transfer saga with Tottenham

Nottingham Forest are in a standoff with Tottenham regarding midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White this transfer window.

The Tricky Trees have blocked Spurs from signing the England international for now as they deemed the Lilywhites made an illegal approach for the player.

With Forest seemingly trying to drag out the ex-Wolves star’s move to the North London outfit, they may already have a contingency plan in place.

Douglas Luiz transfer from Juventus wanted by Forest as Tottenham wait for Gibbs-White decision

Forest are exploring a deal for Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz amid Tottenham awaiting the fate of Gibbs-White’s transfer, according to talkSPORT.

The news outlet reports (15 July) that Evangelos Marinakis likes the idea of bringing the 27-year-old to the City Ground, but his wage demands of over £100,000-a-week could potentially be a stumbling block for the Tricky Trees.

It’s been claimed that while the West Bridgford outfit have drafted a letter to the Premier League to express their anger towards Spurs, there’s hope that the two clubs can agree.

If Gibbs-White does end up moving to Tottenham, Forest will undoubtedly need a quality replacement for him.

That’s where Juventus could come in, with Luiz struggling since moving to the Serie A outfit last summer after an impressive spell at Aston Villa.

The Brazil international hasn’t been able to live up to expectations at the Allianz Stadium, but he has proved his worth in the Premier League.

With the 27-year-old possibly signing for the Tricky Trees, that may leave the door open for Gibbs-White’s switch to Tottenham without any hassle.

Tottenham should be confident of Gibbs-White transfer

Spurs should be confident about signing Gibbs-White this summer, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see the issue being resolved soon.

Forest arguably won’t be doing themselves a favour if they force the English midfielder to stay despite his apparent desire to join the North Londoners.

Tottenham are looking to build a competitive team for Thomas Frank ahead of next season as they are set to compete in the Champions League.

The Lilywhites faithful will hope the saga surrounding the 25-year-old midfielder doesn’t hurt their plans going forward.
