Fikayo Tomori twist emerges as Tottenham eye January deal for new defender
Tottenham have been offered the chance to sign AC Milan star Fikayo Tomori as the January transfer window opens, according to TEAMtalk.
The online source reported [1 January] that Spurs have discussed signing the 27-year-old defender [TBR Football], who came through Chelsea’s academy, as Ange Postecoglou faces an injury crisis.
It is understood that the defender could secure a move away from the Serie A giants this month as his struggles in Italy continue, but it remains to be seen if Spurs will take action.
Tottenham to take advantage of Fikayo Tomori situation?
Tomori’s current situation at AC Milan is absolutely baffling. He has only played 92 minutes of football during the last seven matches in all competitions.
The experienced centre-back has made too many mistakes in recent weeks, seeing Malick Thiaw and Matteo Gabbeo being preferred to the abroad Englishman this season.
However, given his experience across Europe and with the England national team, there is no reason why he could not return to the Premier League and become a key member of Postecoglou’s team.
With Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies all sidelined, joining Guglielmo Vicario in the treatment room, Archie Gray and Radu Dragusin have paired up in the centre of defence.
Spurs continue to struggle on the pitch, with the manager coming under more and more pressure, and defensive reinforcement could be vital for the Australian to save his job in North London.

Daniel Levy has been regularly criticised for his lack of spending on the pitch, and that opinion seems to be louder than ever from the frustrated fanbase as the January transfer window opens.
If the Lilywhites have been offered the chance to sign Tomori, it would be a silly opportunity to turn down, but it will all come down to how much Levy will need to splash on a transfer in the middle of a campaign.
