Everton now lead Tottenham in hunt to sign exciting goal machine

Tottenham have been dealt a blow ahead of the summer transfer window, with Everton emerging as the more likely destination for a highly rated forward.

Given the failures of the current campaign, Tottenham will need to invest smartly in the summer transfer window to ensure that the nightmares in North London aren’t repeated.

Perhaps at the top of their shopping list will be a new striker, with Dominic Solanke and co failing to deliver when it matters the most.

However, Spurs may have to look elsewhere after it was revealed that the Toffees are leading the way to sign a striker with 14 goals this season.

Hamza Igamane twist emerges in Tottenham chase

Whoever is in the dugout next season will need to be backed by Daniel Levy, and without the addition of a striker, success will be extremely hard to come by.

During the winter window, Tottenham were said to be “big admirers” of Hamza Igamane, who has impressed at Rangers, but the latest report from TEAMtalk (26 March) doesn’t bode well for the North London outfit.

Igamane would be a shrewd addition to a Premier League club next season.

Spurs are said to still be keen on the striker, but Everton are the favourites to win his signature, though it is believed that it will take a “big fee” to seal any potential deal.

Rangers signed Igamane for just £2.5million, and are likely to hold out for more than £20m after the role he has played in Glasgow this season.

Tottenham can’t afford any errors this summer

While Ange Postecoglou will shoulder most of the blame for this season’s shortcomings, the failure from a recruitment perspective has also played a huge part.

Levy and those involved with transfer dealings need to plan meticulously to ensure that any deals that are pursued are not only the right ones in terms of personnel, but also financially.

Tottenham will not want to see a replica of the current campaign ever again, though a failure to recruit smartly in the summer could see those concerns come to fruition.
