Destiny Udogie sends message as Tottenham exit officially confirmed

Destiny Udogie certainly hasn’t enjoyed the season he would have wanted at Tottenham.

Udogie has faced several injuries, and the arrival of Thomas Frank has seen Djed Spence take up a much bigger role on either side of the defence.

Spence has been available all season, which hasn’t helped the Italian international with consistency.

Tottenham were told to demand £50million for Udogie in the summer as transfer links intensified, but thankfully, he remained at the time.

As the January transfer window opens, though, Spurs have already kick-started their exits.

Tottenham announce Brennan Johnson exit

Tottenham confirmed the exit of Brennan Johnson on Friday, with Crystal Palace paying £35million for the Wales international at the start of the January window.

Udogie was clearly gutted by the move, as he immediately sent his well-wishes online, alongside the likes of Archie Gray and AJ Tracey.

“My brother man,” he wrote on Instagram, with an image of Johnson.

“Honestly wish you the best, and thank you for what you have done for us.

“You will be missed.”

Brennan Johnson by the numbers – Tottenham legend

Johnson will forever live on at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, all thanks to one goal.

Ange Postecoglou delivered the Europa League trophy to Spurs, but it was Johnson who scored the all-important goal against Manchester United last summer.

To end the trophy drought, he will remain a legend in these parts.

With 27 goals and 18 assists during his three seasons in North London, Johnson can be considered somewhat of a success, but not amazing.

Arriving from Nottingham Forest for nearly £50m, there was always going to be scrutiny around every performance and each little negative.

Xavi Simons is experiencing the exact same thing now at Tottenham, so you definitely have to be patient before demanding the world.

It’s important that Spurs now back Frank with new signings, as the Lewis family have the money to spend on whoever they want.

Let’s hope serious upgrades are secured before 2 February.
