Darren Bent ‘deluded’ after what he’s just said about Mbuemo and Tottenham
Tottenham are set to battle Manchester United for the signature of Bryan Mbeumo.
The Brentford star seemed set for a move to Old Trafford before Thomas Frank was appointed by Daniel Levy to replace Ange Postecoglou in the dugout.
However, Spurs could hijack that deal after reportedly offering £10million more than the Red Devils to try and beat them to his signature.
The 27-year-old would earn around £140,000-a-week with the Lilywhites but United could offer around £175,000 to £200,000.

Bent calls on Mbeumo to reject Tottenham
It is set to be a fascinating showdown to land Mbeumo, and it remains to be seen whether the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium outfit can convince him to join them.
Former Spurs forward Darren Bent believes that the attacker should join United over the Europa League winners.
Speaking on talkSPORT (18 June, 5:40pm), he said: “Right now, Man United, Spurs are a big club, Solanke is there, first of all, there is an opportunity there at centre-forward because Rasmus [Hojlund] is struggling.
“In my head, Man United can’t be this bad for that long, surely, at some point, it is going to come back.”
Tottenham should be Mbeumo’s pick despite Bent’s delusion
Bent is absolutely deluded. Why would anybody want to join United over Tottenham right now, given the position that the two clubs are in?
Most importantly, Spurs are playing in the Champions League next season while Ruben Amorim’s side are not even in Europe after losing the all-or-nothing Bilbao showcase.
The Lilywhites have a state-of-the-art stadium and some of the best training facilities in world football, and they seem to be on an upward trajectory, the same cannot be said for the Red Devils.
In Mbeumo’s case especially, the chance to continue his development into an elite-level player under his former manager in Europe’s top competition, which he has never had the chance to play in before, should turn the tide in the North London outfit’s favour.
The Cameroon international notched 20 goals in the top-flight last season and played his best football of his career under Frank, surely it makes sense to join him in N17 rather than a struggling manager who could be sacked in six months’ time.
It remains to be seen what decision that Mbeumo makes, but one thing is for sure, he should ignore Bent’s utterly ridiculous opinion on the matter and go with his own logic.
