Daniel Levy will be massive fan of what’s now been suggested about Jack Grealish to Tottenham
Jack Grealish is among the options under consideration in midfield for Tottenham in the closing weeks of the transfer window.
Spurs have already signed Mohammed Kudus this summer and looked close to signing Morgan Gibbs-White, before the midfielder signed a new deal at Nottingham Forest.
But James Maddison’s injury in pre-season has increased the urgency for a further signing in midfield before the window shuts at the end of the month.
The England international was stretchered off in the minutes following his introduction against Newcastle United, with a scan later revealing that the 28-year-old tore his anterior cruciate ligament.

Grealish could take wage cut for Spurs move
Grealish is expected to leave Manchester City this summer, with Pep Guardiola set to leave the midfielder out of his plans for this season.
The 29-year-old joined the Citizens for £100million in 2021, following terrific consecutive seasons for Aston Villa.
But Grealish has found himself afforded less and less game time in the years since the move, with his form suffering in a more-controlled system under Guardiola.
The midfielder was afforded just 715 minutes in the Premier League last season and is now keen to rediscover his best form elsewhere, with one eye on Thomas Tuchel’s World Cup squad next summer.
Everton have been strongly linked and have reportedly already entered negotiations with Manchester City, but Grealish’s wages are expected to prove difficult to afford.

That could leave Tottenham with a chance to swoop in for the former Villa man, with Frank keen to add quality to his squad ahead of the new season.
Speaking on TalkSPORT on Saturday, Tony Cascarino suggested that Grealish could even take a pay cut to join a new club this summer.
“How would he not be excited about having two clubs like Tottenham and Everton being interested in taking him,” said the former Chelsea striker.
“And I think you’d even sacrifice some of your own money. I don’t know how it works because I don’t know how it works with your wages, whether you can say ‘well look, I’ll take some sort of cut.’
“I don’t know how that works with your contract because obviously the PFA are involved, I’m not sure how legit but he could certainly push for it and make it happen.”
How does Grealish stand up against Maddison?
Grealish is much more a carrier than Maddison, constantly looking to get on the ball and drive towards the opposition’s goal.
And the midfielder stands up well against the Tottenham man in his shot creation too, although Grealish’s stats are from a far smaller sample size.
Premier League 2024/25 (per 90) | Jack Grealish | James Maddison |
Key passes | 2.6 | 2.16 |
Passes completed | 44.33 | 49.69 |
Progressive carries | 7.71 | 2.23 |
Shot-creating actions | 5.45 | 4.6 |
Fouls drawn | 3.1 | 3.09 |
Where Maddison thrives, is in his passing numbers, and the 28-year-old bests his possible replacement on that front.
Even still, Grealish presents an interesting proposition for Spurs in the closing weeks of the window, and Daniel Levy will certainly be keen should the midfielder reduce his wage demands.
