Bryan Mbeumo signs, Branthwaite replaces Romero – Levy’s Tottenham transfer XI
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is in for a busy summer with both incoming and outgoing transfers.
Ange Postecoglou was sacked by Tottenham on Friday (6 June) after overseeing the North London club’s worst-ever Premier League campaign.
The summer shake-up has not stopped with Postecoglou as several coaches and backroom figures have also departed Tottenham, with more expected to follow.
Once the fallout settles and a new manager is chosen, Levy will look to strengthen Tottenham to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season.
With that in mind, Tottenham News has drawn up a starting line-up of potential signings that the chairman could make during the transfer window.
Jarrad Branthwaite could replace Cristian Romero at Tottenham
If Levy wants to show some serious ambition, he could look to lure Champions League winner Gianluigi Donnarumma to Tottenham. The goalkeeper is out of contract at the end of next season and has been linked with a move away from PSG.
Meanwhile, Jarrad Branthwaite could replace Cristian Romero, who has been widely linked with a move to Atletico Madrid this summer.
Tottenham are expected to move for the defender despite Everton’s desire to keep him [Daily Mail].
Branthwaite is a physically robust centre-back who is known to dominate aerially and is aggressive when without the ball.

Tottenham have previously been linked with Milan Škriniar, who is set to return to Paris Saint-Germain after a loan spell at Fenerbahçe.
A centre back pairing of Branthwaite and Škriniar would provide a blend of both youth and experience to Spurs’ backline.
Tottenham could also look to re-sign Kyle Walker-Peters, who is available as a free agent.
On the left flank, Tottenham could take advantage of Theo Hernández’s contract situation at AC Milan. The Frenchman is out of contract next summer and is reportedly keen for a new challenge.
Hayden Hackney an alternative to Johnny Cardoso
The Lilywhites thought they had hit the jackpot when they agreed a £21million buy-option for Johnny Cardoso as part of Giovani Lo Celso’s move to Real Betis last summer.
However, the midfielder has turned down a move to Tottenham, preferring to join Atletico Madrid instead.
According to the print edition of the Sun on Sunday (8 June, page 61), Levy has identified Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney as an alternative to Cardoso.
As a deep-lying playmaker, his distribution could make him a key player for Tottenham during the build-up. Alongside Hackney, Tottenham could sign Adam Wharton and Victor Froholdt, who have both been linked with a move to Hotspur Way this summer.
Tottenham could sign Bryan Mbeumo this summer
As reported by David Ornstein (2 June), Bryan Mbeumo wants to join Manchester United this summer.
However, the Cameroonian has also been linked with Tottenham, who could hijack a move if they appoint Brentford boss Thomas Frank, who is currently in pole position to replace Postecoglou.
The Lilywhites have also been linked with Xavi Simons and could recruit the RB Leipzig star for the opposite flank.
Both options provide a mix of technical and physical brilliance, which would be difficult for opposition teams to overcome.
Viktor Gyökeres could complete a versatile front three after an impressive season with Sporting Lisbon. The striker scored 54 goals in 52 appearances for the Portuguese side and is expected to leave this summer.
