Brentford receive final ‘take-it-or-leave-it bid’ for Tottenham-linked Mbeumo
Tottenham’s chase to sign Bryan Mbeumo has ebbed and flowed for several weeks now.
The Lilywhites have been battling Manchester United to try and convince the Cameroon international to follow in Thomas Frank’s footsteps, and make the switch across London from the Gtech Community Stadium.
Spurs’ priorities had switched somewhat during the Mohammed Kudus saga, but their interest in Mbeumo had remained in the background.
The 25-year-old has been excellent at Brentford under Frank, and Daniel Levy has clearly had every intention of reuniting the pair in N17 next term.

Manchester United make final Mbeumo bid
Spurs’ pursuit of Mbeumo had been dealt a blow by the player’s desire to join United, and the Lilywhites have slowly drifted further away from a potential deal.
The Red Devils have continued to work on Mbeumo to try and force through the signing, but after two unsuccessful bids, they are now making what is being described as a “take-it-or-leave-it” offer, according to the print edition of The Mirror (18 July, pg. 54).
Ruben Amorim’s side have tabled a final bid of £65million for the forward, including a further £5m in add-ons, and it might finally be enough for them to secure the player’s services.
Mbeumo has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford, and with Brentford’s valuation of £70m seemingly now met, it seems likely that the Bees will oblige and allow him to make the switch.

Tottenham have been right to focus on other targets
Tottenham have turned their attention towards Morgan Gibbs-White over the last few weeks, and the North Londoners have certainly made the right decision in distancing themselves from Mbeumo.
It has been clear for some time that the former Troyes man has favoured United over Spurs, and even though Levy and Co. were handed a temporary boost by Frank’s arrival, it has felt inevitable for some time that Mbeumo wouldn’t choose them.
As a result, the fact that Tottenham have continued to go about their business while the situation unfolds at Brentford is a hugely positive sign.
It can often be easy for clubs to get bogged down chasing the same player for an entire summer, only to be left short of time and options at the end of a window if they can’t get the deal over the line.
The fact that the N17 outfit have avoided that is testament to the work that is going on behind the scenes this summer.
