Another new Tottenham signing spotted smiling into dressing room after latest defeat vs West Ham
Tottenham’s season went from bad to worse as they were beaten 2-1 by London rivals West Ham United on Saturday afternoon.
Callum Wilson scored a last-minute winner for the visitors, condemning Spurs to their third defeat in a row.
Thomas Frank is now on the verge of the sack at Tottenham, with the Lilywhites sitting 14th in the Premier League, having picked up just one victory in their last eight games.
While the hierarchy at the North London side make a decision on Frank’s future, a new signing looks set to be announced.
Souza watches Tottenham lose to West Ham
Tottenham completed the signing of Conor Gallagher last Wednesday, and the midfielder made his debut in the defeat to West Ham.
Spurs’ next addition of the January window was in attendance as well, as the North London outfit fell to yet another defeat at home.
Souza is in the final stages of his move from Santos to Tottenham, after Frank’s side had a £13million bid accepted for the left-back.
The Brazilian youngster watched the game against West Ham from the stands and was spotted going to meet his new teammates in the dressing room after the full-time whistle.
Souza walked through the mixed zone smiling, hinting that the official transfer announcement could be very close.
Souza transfer needed after crushing injury blow
Souza is still only 19 and expected to come in at Tottenham as a development option originally, rather than going straight into the starting lineup.
However, Ben Davies was stretchered off in the first half against West Ham after picking up what looked to be a serious leg injury.
The extent of the damage isn’t yet known, but the Welsh international looks set for a prolonged spell on the sidelines.
Davies was replaced by Djed Spence, and Destiny Udogie was also on the bench, but the injury could mean Souza’s ascent to the first team is accelerated.
Rather than slowly integrating the Santos man into his new surroundings, Tottenham may be forced to utilise him sooner than expected.
