Tottenham player ratings vs Leeds – Mathys Tel goes from hero to zero, Pedro Porro brilliant

Tottenham Hotspur were held to a 1-1 draw by Leeds United on Monday, which leaves the relegation battle looking tense.

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium atmosphere went up a notch when Mathys Tel struck a stunning effort to give the hosts the lead.

Leeds did not need to get anything from the game, as they were confirmed as safe following West Ham’s loss to Arsenal, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s penalty got them back into the game.

The result leaves Spurs two points above the drop zone, and gives their London rivals a chance to catch them.

Tottenham have two matches to confirm safety, but it will not be as simple as it could have been had they won.

Mathys Tel goes from hero to zero for Tottenham

Tel has been a regular starter for Tottenham recently, but he had not struck the back of the net since the 3-2 loss to Bournemouth in January.

He was the one who got the party started in N17 on this occasion, and it was the cherry on top of a fantastic performance.

The Frenchman came to life again on the flank, with 43 touches, two coming in the opposition box, and one chance created for his teammates, per Fotmob.

He was constantly trying to make opportunities, with nine cross attempts, but only completed three, but it was an industrious performance.

The 21-year-old tried to help out defensively too, with one interception and three recoveries, winning three of the six ground duels that he contested, for a 50 per cent success rate.

However, all his work was undone as he caught Ethan Ampadu with a high boot in the box, going from hero to zero.

Pedro Porro brilliant as Tottenham draw

Pedro Porro was back to his brilliant best in the contest, as he was the heartbeat of the side at both ends.

The Spaniard rose to the occasion, creating three chances for teammates, and making 10 passes into the visitors’ final third.

He also completed 50 per cent of his eight cross attempts, in a valiant attacking display from the experienced right-back.
