Tottenham player ratings vs Chelsea – Randal Kolo Muani reverts to type as Richarlison shines

Tottenham Hotspur succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Tuesday evening.

Roberto De Zerbi‘s side were pulled apart with goals from Enzo Fernandez and Andrey Santos at Stamford Bridge, before Richarlison scored a consolation.

The result leaves Spurs two points ahead of West Ham, just above the relegation zone, after they failed to pull away.

A draw would have essentially sealed survival due to the Lilywhites’ goal difference being much better, but now it will go down to the wire.

Tottenham now face a crucial clash with Everton on the final day, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Randal Kolo Muani dismal as Tottenham lose

Kolo Muani has been much maligned in his time at Tottenham, but he has shown good form in the last few matches.

However, he reverted back to type with a dismal performance against the Blues, taking just 28 touches in the contest, per Fotmob.

The Frenchman completed just 56 per cent of his passes and failed to create a chance for his teammates from the right-flank.

He took three touches in the opposition box, but did not do anything when he got into a promising position, with no successful crosses from his four attempts.

He made just one defensive contribution, a recovery, and it was his pass that went straight to Cole Palmer for the second goal.

He was replaced straight after by James Maddison, which was the right decision from De Zerbi.

Richarlison makes the most of limited service

Richarlison was the shining light for De Zerbi’s side, despite a lack of service coming his way.

He only had 33 touches, but he made the most of it, with five of them in the opposition box, and firing in a consolation that had Spurs dreaming of a comeback.

He took the most shots in the contest, with three, and also missed one big chance in the contest, while creating a chance for a teammate.

The Brazilian was willing to help out defensively, with one tackle, two clearances, and one recovery, showing his heart for the cause.

He won three of four ground duels for a 75 per cent success rate, and four of seven in the air, for a 57 per cent success rate.

It was the kind of performance that the visitors needed, but not from one player, from all of them.
