Cristian Romero an ‘absolute disgrace’ after latest Tottenham antics, more may come out

Cristian Romero’s latest actions have put serious doubt over his commitment to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Argentina international has been out injured since the Sunderland clash on 12 April, but he is supposed to be moral support for his teammates.

However, he is set not to attend the final-day clash with Everton, which could see Roberto De Zerbi’s side relegated.

The defender will instead be watching River Plate take on his former side Belgrano in his homeland as they challenge for the title.

The situation looks incredibly poor from Tottenham’s club captain as he is meant to be cheering the side on from the touchline when they play Everton.

What has been said about Cristian Romero’s antics?

John Wenham can’t believe the latest Tottenham developments involving Romero, and believes that it is a terrible look for the World Cup winner.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “Absolute disgrace!

“Tottenham’s biggest ever Premier League game and the club captain won’t be in attendance.

“Maybe more will come out about this, and the club have granted him time off, but the optics are appalling.”

Could this seal Romero exit at Tottenham?

Romero has surely sealed an exit in the summer now, with his antics, as it is unacceptable not to watch your current club in a game where they could be relegated.

He has been linked with Atletico Madrid, and Wenham believes that he could even be sold at a cut-price of around the £35million mark.

Spurs fans may well have been against that when it was suggested, but given the anger around the situation, they may well agree now.

It seems like his heart is not in it, he does not have the N17 club’s best wishes at heart, and frankly, it shows that he does not care.

That is not a player who should be captain, let alone a player who should even be at the club beyond the end of the season.

De Zerbi needs leadership, that is shown through actions, and Romero’s prove that he is not the man to take the club forward on the pitch or off it.

The anger is fully justified, it is a ludicrous decision, one that could well end his career with the Lilywhites.
