Chris Sutton has issued his final predictions of the season, with Tottenham Hotspur’s Premier League status in the balance.

The Lilywhites head into matchweek 38 with the possibility of going down to the Championship next season.

It is an uncomfortable position for manager Roberto De Zerbi, who has been getting more out of this squad than his two predecessors this season.

However, this may be Spurs’ most important game in modern history, as the financial implications of relegation could be quite stark.

Now, ahead of Tottenham’s final game of the season, Sutton has shared as to whether he believes they will go down.

Tottenham fans will no doubt be anxious and nervous as the build-up to Sunday’s game continues to rumble on.

After winning the Europa League last season, it is a position that many would not have expected them to be in on the final day. Now, Sutton has predicted if Sours will go down.

Sutton, via BBC Sport, has stated: “Spurs were flat against Chelsea, and, based on that performance, Everton will get at least a point.

“Thinking about it, I am actually going to say they will take all three. Tottenham have been wretched at home all season – only Burnley have picked up fewer points on home turf – while Everton had a strong record away until their recent run.”

In the end, the former Premier League forward predicted a 2-1 loss for the Lilywhites, which would put their Premier League status in quite some danger.

Losing is the only way that Tottenham could end up getting relegated as long as West Ham end up winning their fixture.

Sutton, though, feels the N17 outfit may get lucky, with the Hammers drawing 1-1 against Leeds United. Spurs would stay up on goal difference.

Tottenham will have to show patience against Everton, especially if they score the first goal. They cannot allow the occasion to get to them.

Losing to Everton would not be ideal, and nerves around Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would be at an all-time high in that game state.

However, statistics suggest it isn’t a far-fetched outcome. When it comes to away form, the Toffees have been one of the best in the league, picking up 26 points from 18 games.

In the away form table, it leaves them in 6th place. Additionally, Tottenham have been terrible at their home ground, with just two wins in 18 games this campaign.

The N17 side are 19th in the Premier League in the home form table, so the stage is clearly set for an Everton victory.

Recent form, though, may provide hope, as Everton have picked up just two points in their last five games, with Tottenham securing seven.

While Spurs’ history against the Toffees is another reason for hope. Over the last 10 Premier League matchups, Tottenham have lost just one of those.
