‘Antonin Kinsky should be given Tottenham number one spot amid transfer talk’

Antonin Kinsky is on the verge of a magical turnaround at Tottenham Hotspur.

His Spurs career looked over after a series of mistakes against Atletico Madrid that saw him replaced after just 17 minutes in March.

However, Roberto De Zerbi has had to place his faith in the Czech star, with Guglielmo Vicario ruled out through injury.

The 23-year-old has repaid the faith from the Italian boss, and has boosted his reputation massively with some brilliant saves.

Now, Kinsky has been backed to take Tottenham’s number one jersey, after his recent exploits between the sticks.

Kinsky told he deserves number one spot despite Tottenham transfer talk

John Wenham would like to see Kinsky given the chance to be the number one at Tottenham, rather than the N17 club spending millions on the position in the market as has been speculated.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “On Kinsky, he has done very well since coming into the side, if you think, it was only two months ago when he had that disastrous night in Madrid that had people effectively saying he had no future at the club.

“The fightback from him deserves a huge amount of credit, especially in the state we are in right now, deputising so well for Vicario.

“The talk now after his performances against Wolves, with that last-minute free-kick save, at Villa Park, and he then had a huge impact against Leeds, which may even win Save of the Season, when he tipped Sean Longstaff’s effort onto the bar.

“There is still talk that Tottenham will pursue James Trafford in the summer, I would personally like him to be, as long as he carries on his form against Chelsea and Everton, given the opportunity to be Tottenham’s number one next season.

“We have other areas of the squad that need strengthening, rather than a big money goalkeeper, who will cost between £30-40million.”

Why Wenham’s view should be the consensus

Wenham is spot on in his assessment of the situation.

Kinksy has proven himself to be more than capable for a starting role, all he needed was a bit of confidence, and he has been able to adapt to the Premier League.

There are other areas of the team that are the priority in the transfer market, and there is now no need to spend tonnes of money on a stopper.

The idea of Kinsky being number one should now be consensus, both within the club and in the supporters’ minds, too.
