View: Tottenham should bust gut to sign Wolves ace Max Kilman after superb individual campaign

Tottenham have already been busy this summer, with the appointment of manager Ange Postecoglou and the signing of James Maddison dominating their headlines.

But they need to do a lot more if they are to have any hope of keeping up with the likes of Premier League giants Manchester City, Arsenal, Manchester United and Liverpool next season.

Keeping Harry Kane in North London will probably be Postecoglou’s priority over the coming months, but the manager will also be keen to take a look at things at the other end of the pitch.

Defensive reinforcements will be needed, and one player that Tottenham are reportedly eyeing is Wolves centre-back Max Kilman [Mirror, 5 June].

The 26-year-old is very highly-regarded at his current club, having played more minutes (3,308) than any other Wolves player last season, as per the official Premier League website.

And he really did impress throughout the campaign, with the defender placing ninth for passes made (2,092), according to the official Premier League website.

The figure placed him above West Ham captain fantastic Declan Rice (2,083), and in a top 10 featuring the likes of world-class stars Rodri (2,977) and Virgil van Dijk (2,581), with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg (2,256) the only Tottenham representative on the list.

The impressive statistics don’t stop there, with only Ethan Pinnock (214), James Tarkowski (196) and Joachim Anderssen (187) making more clearances than the Wolves ace (163), as per the official Premier League website.

All of the above were crucial as Wolves finished 13th in the table last season, with Kilman representing a superb option for Tottenham if they hope to stay solid at the back in the upcoming campaign.

It will, however, take a hefty fee for his current club to agree to a deal, having just lost fellow centre-back Nathan Collins to Brentford, meaning Tottenham must break the bank if they want to acquire Kilman’s services.

In other Tottenham news, one pundit has backed Maddison to shine under Postecoglou at the North London club.
