View: Tottenham ace Richarlison sends Ange Postecoglou message with stunning 100% cameo v Sheffield United
Tottenham Hotspur were crying out for a hero deep into injury time in their Premier League clash with Sheffield United.
The North London club were surprisingly 1-0 down to the struggling blades in the dying minutes of their meeting on Saturday (16 September).
And in the absence of Harry Kane, Tottenham fans were perhaps conceding to their team losing their first match of the new Premier League campaign.
But Brazil ace Richarlison had other ideas, with the attacker producing a stunning cameo from the bench at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Ange Postecoglou introduced the forward in the 80th minute as his club searched for an equaliser, and they got it in the 98th minute through their Brazilian star.
Richarlison then turned provider for Dejan Kulusevski two minutes later, assisting the winger’s goal and therefore playing a key role in 100 per cent of his club’s goals on the day.
It was a full-blooded display from the 26-year-old, who sent a message to his boss with the goal and assist, but also by winning three of his five aerial duels, as per SofaScore.
The brief cameo earned the attacker a match rating of 8.6, better than any of his Tottenham teammates despite only featuring for 10 minutes of normal time, and bettered only by opposing goalkeeper Wes Foderingham (8.9), as per SofaScore.
His match-winning display will give Postecoglou plenty to think about for the club’s next match, which just so happens to be the first North London Derby of the season, with Arsenal hosting their rivals next Sunday (24 September).
