View: Manchester United struggler Jadon Sancho can rediscover Borussia Dortmund form at Tottenham

Jadon Sancho really hasn’t hit the heights expected of him at Manchester United, but Tottenham could offer him a career revival this summer.

The winger registered just six goals and three assists from his 26 Premier League matches this season, with Sancho finishing level with midfielder Casemiro with seven goals in all competitions, as per BBC Sport.

Those are not the tallies that he or anyone at Old Trafford imagined he would be stooping to upon his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.

For various reasons, it hasn’t quite gone to plan for the attacker in Manchester, with Sancho joining the Red Devils after four superb years in the Bundesliga.

While at Dortmund, the young Englishman hit stunning tallies of 50 goals and 64 assists from his 137 appearances, as per Transfermarkt.

The winger was constantly driving at defenders and toying with them thanks to his speed and fancy footwork, with star striker Erling Haaland usually on the receiving end of one of Sancho’s pinpoint crosses.

Haaland has since furthered his career at Manchester City, but Sancho has unfortunately gone in the other direction in the red half of the city.

However, the Daily Star (10 June) claims that Tottenham are considering a £50million summer swoop for the Manchester United man.

Sancho has been around for a while, but it’s worth noting that he is still just 23 years old, and can still go on to have a long and hugely successful career.

And that success can come at both club and international level, with Sancho missing out on a place in England’s 2022 World Cup squad due to his lack of form.

With another World Cup and indeed a Euros just around the corner, getting back into Gareth Southgate’s plans should be a priority for Sancho, and he could force his way back into contention should he move to Tottenham and hit the ground running.

The winger perhaps saved one of his best Manchester United displays for the end of the season, with Sancho scoring in the 2-1 win against Fulham at the end of May.

As per SofaScore, the youngster finished the game with an 88% passing accuracy and made two key passes, as well as winning three of his six duels, with only Bruno Fernandes and Kenny Tete (both 7.8) earning a higher rating than Sancho (7.6).

In other Tottenham news, one financial report has revealed how the club have been overtaken by fierce rivals Arsenal.
