View: Crystal Palace ace Marc Guehi could solve Tottenham defensive issues
Tottenham have been really poor in many areas this season, but one issue in particular that has reared its head all too often is how poor they have been at the back.
Constant defensive issues have brought about many disappointing results, with the club conceding a mammoth 15 goals in their last four matches.
Those recent disastrous defensive displays have pushed Tottenham further up the unwanted list of the most goals conceded in the Premier League this season, with just five other clubs now having a worse defensive record than Spurs.

Better concentration and teamwork at the back could help solve the issue for the remaining games of the current campaign, but at least one new arrival is needed to fix the issue in the longer term. And one such player that the North London club should definitely try and turn to is Crystal Palace ace Marc Guehi.
The centre-back has been one of the top defenders in the Premier League for the last two years, and is definitely one of a handful of Eagles stars who is more than capable of making the step up to a bigger club.
Palace seemingly don’t have what it takes to venture into European football anytime soon, and this is an incentive that Spurs could use to lure the centre-back to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham have “long-standing interest” in Guehi, but they must act fast in order to beat fierce rivals Arsenal to his signature, with the same publication stating that the Gunners are also interested in the defender.

Tottenham desperately need to keep the ball better at the back, and Guehi represents a very assured option in this area, with the defender among the top 10 players with the most passes in the top flight this season, as per the official Premier League website.
His 1,892 passes are just behind Spurs ace Eric Dier (1,978), with the pair undoubtedly able to form a strong partnership together in central defence.
The Eagles ace is also in the top 10 for clearances (123), while his 23 blocks, 41 interceptions and 56 headed clearances put him in the top 20 for all three categories. Moreover, he has played a key role in helping his club rise to third in the standings and fifth in the standings for most clearances and most tackles respectively, according to the official Premier League website.
At just 22 years old, Guehi could shine at the back for Spurs for many years to come, with his leadership and maturity – two much-needed characteristics at Spurs – already on show through multiple matches as Crystal Palace captain.
Ironically, Tottenham’s next match is against the Eagles, allowing the former to take a very close look at the talented Guehi.
In other Tottenham news, two Eagles stars could exploit the North London outfit in their upcoming clash on Saturday (6 May).
