View: 80% Tottenham ace Dejan Kulusevski shines v Sheffield United, but best is yet to come
Tottenham continued their unbeaten run in the new Premier League campaign with a dramatic 2-1 victory against Sheffield United.
The Blades looked like securing a shock win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (16 September) when Gustavo Hamer put them ahead in the 73rd minute.
But super sub Richarlison had other ideas, scoring an equaliser in the 98th minute before assisting Dejan Kulusevski’s winner two minutes later.
The Brazilian has rightfully taken much of the plaudits following his stunning cameo, but the Swedish international was also on top form against the Blades.
Along with his goal, the winger registed an 80% pass success rate, with five of his passes being key, as per SofaScore.
Furthermore, the 23-year-old won his only aerial duel and also made one tackle throughout his 90 minutes on the pitch.
And after having five shots blocked, more than any other player, Kulusevski was finally rewarded for his determination with his dramatic winner.
His determination to get at the Sheffield United defence was also evident through the fact he lost possession 16 times.
His Tottenham teammates James Maddison and Yves Bissouma registered tallies of 21 and 19 respectively in this regard, with manager Ange Postecoglou set to be delighted rather than disappointed at his creative players having a go at their opponents.
However, Kulusevski’s two failed dribble attempts will come as a disappointment, and is an area that he can work on in order to increase his goals output.
That said, the winger has already matched his goals tally from Juventus at Tottenham, and has done so in 11 fewer games. Moreover, he also boasts six more assists at his current club.
The attacker is, therefore, clearly improving, but could still afford to up his numbers given his advanced role and regular minutes on the pitch.
