Tottenham fans will be shocked as supercomputer prediction emerges under Thomas Frank
Tottenham have made a brilliant start to the season under Thomas Frank.
Tottenham’s 2-1 win over Leeds on Saturday saw them rise to third in the Premier League, with Frank only suffering one defeat in his first seven league matches in charge.
Richarlison has been in red-hot form, scoring three goals in his first five games.
However, a supercomputer prediction has revealed where Tottenham should really be in the Premier League table.

Tottenham statistically overperforming under Thomas Frank
Frank is known as a coach who is excellent at tactically adapting his teams based on who their opponents are.
In Tottenham’s 2-0 win over Man City, Spurs played through the Man City high press, whilst the midfield trio of Pape Matar Sarr, Joao Palhinha, and Rodrigo Bentancur sat really high up the pitch when out of possession.
Despite the positive results, the Opta supercomputer has predicted that Spurs should be 13th based on their performances this season.
Tottenham are sitting on 14 points, yet Opta believes they should have eight from the opening seven matches.
Spurs have also created the seventh-least amount of expected goals (xG) in the league.
Stat | Tottenham | Rank amongst Premier League teams |
Expected goals (xG) | 7.50 | 13th |
Expected goals conceded | 8.80 | 14th |
Expected goal difference | -1.3 | 14th |
If anything, the stats show how clinical Spurs have been in front of goal.
Their total of 13 goals is only bettered by Arsenal and Man City, and that is, in large part, thanks to Richarlison.
Dominic Solanke hasn’t thrived under Frank thanks to Richarlison’s goalscoring streak, which has seen him score three goals from an xG of 1.68.

However, Spurs’ player of the season has been their key creative outlet, and Mohammed Kudus has thrived under Thomas Frank’s system.
Tottenham are overreliant on Mohammed Kudus’ chance creation
Kudus joined Spurs for a fee of £55million, yet he has emerged as Tottenham’s most influential player.
The 25-year-old winger has the joint-most assists in the Premier League, registering four alongside Everton’s Jack Grealish.
Pass accuracy (percentage) | 86.8 |
Shots | 13 |
Chances created | 13 |
Touches in opposition box | 30 |
Dribble success rate (percentage) | 53.6 |
His debut against Burnley at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was fantastic, providing two assists and showcasing how effective he can be on the right-hand side.
Spurs have been overreliant on Kudus’ creativity, and Brennan Johnson will need to step up if the promising run of form is to continue.
Tottenham fans will these see metrics to improve, as Spurs can’t rely on the individual brilliance over the course of a 38-game season.
