Tottenham: Ange Postecoglou must put more trust in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after Denmark feat

Tottenham Hotspur are being well represented in the current international break, with Ange Postecoglou perhaps worried about his star men picking up injuries.

They will, of course, return very shortly, with the latest break halfway complete, with the North London club back in action later this month.

They host struggling Luton Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (30 March), with Postecoglou desperate to get back to winning ways after the shock 3-0 loss at Fulham last time out.

And one route that the man in the dugout could go down to provide more stability in his starting XI is via Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, with the midfielder not getting much of a look in recently.

The 28-year-old was handed just 24 minutes of action against the Cottagers, which followed just 10 minutes in total in the previous outings against Aston Villa and Crystal Palace [Transfermarkt].

But Hojbjerg hasn’t let the lack of action disrupt his international progress, with the midfielder making his 74th Denmark cap in their 0-0 draw with Switzerland on Saturday (23 March).

Does Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg deserve more playing time at Tottenham?

And he certainly impressed, with the midfield ace boasting an 89% passing accuracy, one of which was key, with three of his four long balls being accurate [Sofascore].

Moreover, the Dane won his only aerial duel and made three interceptions in an important display for his country.

Denmark continue their Euro 2024 preparations with another friendly on Tuesday (26 March), this time against the Faroe Islands.

Having a player with such experience is not very common, and Postecoglou would be foolish not to turn to such experience more often than he has been between now and the end of the season.

The Dane has not been able to showcase his full potential this season, with the Dane 13th in the list for minutes played by Tottenham players in the current Premier League campaign with 1,003, as per the official Premier League website.

But despite the lack of minutes, Hojbjerg impressively sits sixth among his teammates for passes (1,020), while he boasts figures of 96 recoveries, 24 clearances, 23 tackles and 14 interceptions, as per the official Premier League website.

Could he be used more?

In other Tottenham news, Ange Postecoglou will be worried by what happened to Destiny Udogie with Italy.
