Son Heung-min decision made as Tottenham confirm XI v Crystal Palace

Ange Postecoglou has been able to welcome Son Heung-min back to the matchday squad as Tottenham take on Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Tottenham will have zero interest in the Premier League, with all eyes on the UEFA Europa League final against Manchester United at the Estadio de San Mamés on Wednesday, 21 May.

However, Postecoglou will still want to see a positive performance from his players as they host Crystal Palace at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (11 May).

Son starts on the bench for Tottenham v Crystal Palace

After a long trip back from the Arctic Circle, where Spurs beat Bodø/Glimt 2-0 at the Aspmyra Stadion on Thursday (8 May) to book their place in the Europa League final, Postecoglou was always going to make plenty of changes.

The Australian has made nine changes in total, with Pedro Porro and Rodrigo Bentancur the only players to keep their places from the clash in Norway, while Son returns to the squad and starts on the bench.

Postecoglou has made the brave decision to rest Guglielmo Vicario, with Antonín Kinský making his first appearance since Tottenham were eliminated from the FA Cup after a 2-1 defeat against Aston Villa at Villa Park (9 February).

That was an afternoon to forget for Kinský, as despite making five saves, with four of those made inside the box, the goalkeeper also made an error which led to a goal [Sofascore].

In addition, just two of his eight long balls were accurate, and he only completed 82 per cent of his passes.

Postecoglou must manage his players carefully

With two Premier League games to play before the Europa League final, Postecoglou faces some tough decisions in the coming weeks.

The Australian will be keen to keep his best players fit and won’t want to risk any more injuries, with James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall already ruled out.

However, he also needs the likes of Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven to play some minutes before the trip to Spain, as he won’t want his key players to arrive at the final not match fit.

Therefore, it looks as though Postecoglou faces a tough juggling act in the coming weeks, and the 59-year-old must pick and choose when he plays his players carefully.
