Mohammed Kudus sensational, 6/10 disappoints – Tottenham’s summer signings rated so far

Tottenham had a summer transfer window which excited fans, with some signings living up to their price tags after a couple of weeks.

Thomas Frank was not the only arrival at Hotspur Way, with Spurs signing eight players over the course of the summer.

While some have adapted better than others, Frank still seems to have a lot to work with over the next couple of seasons.

With more guaranteed still to come, Tottenham News has rated how Spurs’ summer signings have performed so far.

Mohammed Kudus – 10/10

Mohammed Kudus signed for Tottenham from West Ham over the summer, becoming the first player to move between the two clubs since Scot Parker in 2011.

Kudus has since been carrying the weight of Tottenham on his shoulders in almost every creative metric, according to Sofascore.

The right-winger has been sensational since he first put on a Spurs shirt and has arguably been their best player.

With the Lilywhites still alive in all competitions this season, Kudus will have a massive role in Spurs winning silverware before summer arrives.

Joao Palhinha – 8/10

Joao Palhinha is currently on loan at Tottenham from Bayern Munich and has quickly become a staple in Frank’s midfield.

What has come as a surprise for most Tottenham fans is his efficiency in front of goal, having netted three goals for the Lilywhites so far, which is not something you see every day from a defensive midfielder.

Furthermore, he has been just as, if not more, impressive defensively, converting Spurs’ backline so that his partner-in-crime Rodrigo Bentancur can push up further into the midfield.

It has already been suggested that Tottenham are already thinking about extending Palhinha beyond this season, and there is no doubt he will cement himself as Spurs’ long-term defensive midfielder if he keeps this up.

Luca Vuskovic – 7.5/10

Luca Vuskovic arrived at Tottenham from Hajduk Split after Spurs reached a deal to sign him from the Croatian club back in 2023.

While Vuskovic has impressed away from Tottenham on loan at Hamburg, fans saw enough of him in a Spurs shirt to form a solid conclusion.

He was excellent for the Lilywhites during pre-season, netting a goal and bagging an assist in 47 minutes against Reading.

The young defender has continued his goalscoring ways while on loan, scoring Hamburg’s first goal since returning to the Bundesliga. As such, his performances for Spurs and on loan have earned him a solid rating.

Mathys Tel – 6/10

Mathys Tel spent the remainder of last season on loan at Tottenham after arriving in the winter transfer window.

His dedication, promise and performances impressed the Spurs hierarchy enough to sign him on a permanent transfer over the summer.

Tel got off to a difficult start to the season after Frank excluded him from Spurs’ UEFA Champions League squad for the league phase.

But he has since bounced back, netting in Tottenham’s most recent win over Leeds, highlighting to fans that better days are approaching.

Tel, whose 70 per cent pass completion rate is the second-lowest of any Spurs player behind Richarlison (64 per cent), will now hope to get more opportunities to showcase his talents.

Kevin Danso – 7/10

Tottenham signed Kevin Danso from Lens on a permanent transfer over the summer after he impressed while on loan last season.

The defender has accepted a rotational role, having to compete with both Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.

But he is one of the best centre-backs out there to come on and defend during the critical last few minutes of games.

There is no word other than solid to describe Danso whose excellent throw-ins have been a highlight of his short career in North London.

Xavi Simons – 6.5/10

Xavi Simons arrived at Tottenham from RB Leipzig towards the end of the transfer window to the delight of Spurs supporters.

The Dutchman is considered one of the greatest talents of his generation, with there being a huge expectation for him to live up to his potential in North London.

Unfortunately, Tottenham fans are still waiting for that day to come, with the midfielder’s performances being inconsistent ever since he stepped foot on the pitch.

Now this is not all on Simons. He spent the first few games out of position on the left flank thanks to Frank and his never-ending experiments at Tottenham.

But after a stellar performance during Spurs’ win over Leeds United, the excuses will soon dry up, and Simons needs to start showing the level football fans know he’s capable of.

Randal Kolo Muani and Kota Takai – N/A

Kota Takai was one of the surprises of the summer, arriving from J-League side Kawasaki Frontale for just a £5million fee.

Meanwhile, Spurs signed Randal Kolo Muani on loan from PSG on deadline day in what was seen as excellent business by the North London club.

However, injuries have kept both players in the shadows, with Kolo Muani only playing a pitiful 13 minutes in the UEFA Champions League this season.

But with Takai back in training and Kolo Muani not far behind, Spurs fans will be able to catch them in action soon enough.
