Micah Richards can only laugh at extraordinary Tottenham reveal – ‘That’s unbelievable’

Tottenham’s FA Cup exit has done little to ease the sack pressure on boss Thomas Frank.

Aston Villa beat Tottenham 2-1 in the third round on Saturday evening, as Frank’s side fell to their fourth defeat in seven games.

Emi Buendia and Morgan Rogers fired Villa into a first-half lead, and despite Wilson Odobert halving the deficit after the break, Spurs went out of the competition.

The North London side seems to be on a never-ending run of bad form, and Micah Richards could do little to hide his amusement at one particular stat.

Gary Lineker reveals awful Tottenham stat

Tottenham have been in a state of disarray for the past 18 months, struggling to find any sort of form in the Premier League.

Spurs did get some respite in the Europa League last season, as Ange Postecoglou led them to glory and their first piece of major silverware in 17 years.

However, Postecoglou was still sacked after the Lilywhites finished a lowly 17th in the Premier League.

Under Frank, Tottenham are not doing much better, currently sitting 14th in the table and leaving the Champions League as their only chance at a trophy this season.

Speaking on the Rest is Football podcast, former Spurs striker Gary Lineker revealed that the North London outfit have lost 37 games across all competitions since the start of the 2024-25 campaign.

Richards simply laughed at the stat, while Alan Shearer was visibly shocked, saying: “37 games, really? Wow. That’s unbelievable.”

Has Thomas Frank done better than Ange Postecoglou

Out of those 37 losses, Postecoglou led Spurs to 26 of them last term, while Frank has been in charge for 11 this season.

Incredibly, the Australian lost 43 per cent of his games during his final campaign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham have lost 37 times since the start of last season

As for Frank, his loss rate since taking over sits at 35 per cent, marginally better than his predecessor but far from the levels required.

Given that Postecoglou was effectively disregarding Premier League games in the final two months of last season, with full focus on the Europa League, there has almost been no improvement since his departure.
