Kulusevski decision ‘to get Postecoglou sacked’ – Tottenham XI v Frankfurt

Ange Postecoglou will take charge of what could be his final game as Tottenham manager when his side take on Eintracht Frankfurt.

Tottenham have travelled to Germany to play Eintracht Frankfurt at Deutsche Bank Park on Thursday (17 April) for a place in the UEFA Europa League semi-final.

Should the Lilywhites fail to advance, Daniel Levy is expected to sack Postecoglou.

Therefore, the Australian’s decision on Dejan Kulusevski seems an incredibly risky one.

Postecoglou makes five Tottenham changes v Frankfurt

Ahead of a potentially career-defining game in Germany, Postecoglou was dealt a big blow at Tottenham after an update on Son Heung-min.

However, this is unlikely to be accepted as an excuse, and the 59-year-old will be well aware that he likely needs to get past Frankfurt to avoid the sack at Tottenham

Therefore, his decision to leave Kulusevski on the bench could end up costing him his job.

Postecoglou has overseen more than 20 defeats at Tottenham this season

Postecoglou has left Kulusevski out in five changes from the 4-2 Premier League defeat against Wolves at Molineux on Sunday (13 April).

Pedro Porro, Micky van de Ven and Destiny Udogie have come in for Archie Gray, Ben Davies and Djed Spence in defence. Meanwhile, Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall replace Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr in midfield.

However, despite returning off the bench against Wolves, Kulusevski has been left out, while Brennan Johnson starts.

As per Sofascore, Johnson won just 50 per cent of his ground duels last time out, while only 25 per cent of his crosses were accurate.

Meanwhile, he gave possession away nine times and was dribbled past once while succeeding with just 50 per cent of his attempted dribbles. Therefore, although Kulusevski has only just returned from injury, it seems as though Postecoglou would have been wise to risk the Swede and leave Johnson out, especially with his job on the line.

Postecoglou is out of excuses at Tottenham

Spurs’ season has been derailed by injuries, there is no getting away from that. Therefore, Postecoglou would be well within his rights to suggest that this has played a part in his side’s poor form.

However, there is no more room for excuses. The majority of his players are back, and Postecoglou must produce a win against Frankfurt.

Otherwise, the former Celtic manager could be hunting for a new job by the weekend.
