Harry Redknapp destroys ‘Scandalous’ Pape Sarr after Tottenham v Chelsea
Harry Redknapp comparing Pape Sarr to a “schoolkid” was spot on after his challenge gave Chelsea a 4-3 win over Tottenham on Sunday.
Speaking on talkSPORT (9 December, 8:10am), Redknapp laid into Sarr after he and fellow midfielder Yves Bissouma gifted Chelsea two second-half penalties, both of which were converted by the unphased Cole Palmer.
Sarr’s challenge on Palmer himself was particularly unnecessary with the Chelsea playmaker facing away from goal, and it allowed the visitors to build an unassailable 4-2 lead which Spurs were unable to reel in.
Redknapp said: “They give penalties away – two of them make the worst two decisions you wouldn’t expect schoolkids to make in a school game.
“The second one is incredible, how he’s pushed him over in the penalty box is beyond belief to me.”
“The two midfielders who gave the penalties away, it was scandalous really, it was incredible.”
Pape Sarr horror show costs Tottenham against Chelsea
Although he saw out the full 90 minutes, Sarr’s influence on the game was minimal after Spurs’ electrifying opening 11 minutes, which saw them force two Chelsea errors to take an early 2-0 lead.
Despite his only attempt on goal having a value of 0.51 xG, Sarr was unable to find the target, and that zero per cent shot accuracy was followed up by the 22-year-old failing to create a single chance.
The Senegalese international also had a zero per cent hit-rate from attempted long balls [FotMob] and lost possession five times amid a terrible display both on and off the ball.

Although Sarr did win each of his three attempted tackles, putting in seven defensive actions in total, he was dribbled past on one occasion – by Palmer in the box directly, before conceding the winning penalty.
Playing on the left of a midfield trio alongside Bissouma and Dejan Kulusevski, Sarr was heavily involved and engaged in 18 duels overall [SofaScore], but was outclassed both in the air and on the ground.
Usually so dependable as a destroyer, Sarr saw the tables turn with just five of his 14 ground duels coming up trumps (36 per cent, FotMob), while also only able to win one of four in the air (25 per cent).
Conceding three fouls overall – including that 84th-minute spot-kick – Spurs’ latest London derby defeat is one Sarr and Ange Postecoglou, will be looking to wipe from the memory as soon as possible.
