Fraser Forster could be Postecoglou saviour after what he did for Tottenham v Rangers
Fraser Forster could help to save Ange Postecoglou’s job at Tottenham after his display against Rangers.
Amid a poor run of form, the Australian arrived at Ibrox for the Europa League tie under pressure in his job.
The game ended in a 1-1 draw after Spurs were able to get back into it through a Dejan Kulusevski goal in the 75th minute.
However, going into the game, Spurs were backed by many to put in a dominant display and easily come away with three points.
It was not that easy though and some will say that the North London side were lucky to come away with a draw after a late Cyriel Dessers chance that Forster was able to keep out in what could have been a decisive moment in the game.
Reacting to the moment live on TNT Sports [12 December, 21:45], Ally McCoist said: “I cannot believe that. What a save! He does brilliantly, works his socks off, what a big save.”
Fraser Forster the standout player for Tottenham v Rangers
Although the late save against Dessers was the standout moment, it was a well-rounded performance from the 36-year-old throughout the night which kept his side in the tie.
According to FotMob, Rangers had six shots on target with the goalkeeper making five saves on the evening showing that he was the most important factor in keeping the hosts from scoring any more than one goal.
However, it was not just his saves in between the sticks that made him a standout performer in Thursday night’s tie. The goalkeeper had 41 touches throughout the 90 minutes and a passing accuracy of 85% showing that his side felt they could rely on him to play it out in the hope of starting to build an attack.

The Spurs boss was quick to praise his goalkeeper in his post-match press conference too for his “great save” that saved his side getting something from the game.
With Guglielmo Vicario set for a period on the sidelines, displays like this from Forster can certainly give his manager some hope that his side might not lose as many games as they could with the pressure they could face in front of the goal.
