Antonin Kinsky ‘nervy’ moment typifies Tottenham issue in Arsenal defeat
Tottenham faced yet another goalkeeping issue after the performance that Antonin Kinsky put in against Arsenal on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old has been thrown straight into the starting line-up due to the absence of Guglielmo Vicario, while understudy Fraser Forster is also out.
While the Czechia ‘keeper may have put on an impressive performance in his debut game against Liverpool, his performance in the North London derby was not quite as assured.
Micah Richards, speaking on Match of the Day (15 January), shared his thoughts on the performance of the ‘keeper.
“The young goalkeeper has played well today but he was a little bit nervy,” Richards said.
Tottenham facing the same issues with Antonin Kinsky
Spurs’ defence has been a major talking point for most of the 2024/25 season with injuries playing a major part in the way that things have panned out for Ange Postecoglou and his men.
Even though there’s clearly plenty of potential in the youngster, it feels like he’s still got a decent way to go before he takes the number-one spot.
And, as per stats from Sofascore, that’s been made abundantly clear because in the 90 minutes he was on the pitch, the ‘keeper only made three saves and only managed to maintain a pass accuracy of 76 per cent.
In terms of long balls attempted, only 46 per cent of them made it to where they were supposed to go.
Kinsky also punched the ball four times, made two high claims of the ball with 50 per cent of the four saves he made being carried out in the box.

However, to be fair to the youngster he won 100 per cent of his ground and aerial duels and also managed four clearances of the ball.
While it was the best performance of his career, it feels like Postecoglou needs to ensure the youngster keeps on track and doesn’t get swamped with the pressure upon his head.
In other Tottenham news, Alan Brazil has been left “baffled” by a decision Ange Postecoglou made about his team.
