Ange Postecoglou will be concerned by Pedro Porro at Tottenham after what he said on Monday
Ange Postecoglou will be concerned about Tottenham ace Pedro Porro after an announcement on Monday (27 May).
With the 2024 UEFA European Championship set to kick off in Germany on 14 June, many of Spurs’ stars will be preparing for the tournament.
However, arguably one of the club’s most impressive players from last season will not be competing for his country this summer.
Spain boss Luis de la Fuente confirmed his 28-man provisional squad this week, with Porro left off the list (via BBC Sport, 27 May).
The right-back took to his Instagram account on Monday (27 May) to express his disappointment.
Porro wrote, “I was very excited about the possibility of being able to represent my country in the Euros, but in the end, it won’t be possible this year.
“Respect and admiration for all of the players who will be defending our colours. From here I will be supporting the team hoping we have great joy. Come on guys”.

It seems incredible that Porro was not selected for Spain after his 2023/24 campaign.
With seven assists in the Premier League, the 24-year-old was one of Spurs’ standout stars.
As per fbref, Porro ranked in the top 15 per cent of his positional peers in the Premier League for the number of assists he provided (0.20 per 90).
In addition, he was among the top 11 per cent of Premier League fullbacks for the number of progressive passes he played (5.65 per 90) and the top nine per cent for the number of passes he played into the penalty area (1.40 per 90).
Porro adapted well to Postecoglou’s attacking demands, sitting in the 94th percentile for the number of touches he made in the attacking third (27.07 per 90).
And while he excelled going forward, he was also just as impressive defensively.
As well as sitting in the top 15 per cent for the number of tackles he made (1.84 per 90), Porro ranked in the top nine per cent for the number of blocks he made (1.84 per 90) and dribblers he tackled (1.81 per 90).

It was a strong season for the ex-Manchester City man, and as a result, his omission from the Spain squad comes as a surprise.
After the disappointment Porro expressed, Postecoglou will be slightly concerned about his frame of mind ahead of next season.
Hopefully, Porro uses this as fuel to improve and prove the Spain boss wrong.
