Ange Postecoglou has just confirmed incredible Tottenham news for Premier League clash v Fulham
Tottenham could be boosted by the return of Richarlison when they take on Fulham in the Premier League.
Spurs will travel to Craven Cottage on Saturday (16 March) where they will have the chance to leapfrog Aston Villa and move into the Premier League top four with a victory.
After their 4-0 win at Villa Park (10 March), the Tottenham players will be full of confidence for the clash with Marco Silva’s side, although they will be without Dutch defender Micky van de Ven.
However, ahead of the trip to West London, Ange Postecoglou has provided a positive injury update with Richarlison set to return to action after missing Spurs’ last two matches with a knee injury.
Speaking to SpursPLAY on Friday (15 March, via Tottenham Hotspur’s Official Website), Postecoglou said, “Richy has trained, so if he pulls up okay (in training today), he should be available for tomorrow.”
Richarlison’s return comes at just the right time for Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou
Spurs put themselves in a very strong position of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League with their win over Aston Villa, and with fifth place now increasingly likely to also end up being a Champions League qualification spot, the North London side will be full of confidence ahead of the run in.
However, they still have some tricky fixtures to navigate, and Postecoglou will need all of his key players fit and firing, which makes Richarlison’s return all the more important.
Before his injury, the Brazillian had found some goalscoring form, scoring nine goals in 10 Premier League matches, and the 26-year-old will be keen to continue where he left off upon his return to action.
Not only was Richarlison scoring, but his overall game was also showing signs of improvement, which was evident in Spurs’ 2-1 home win over Brighton (10 February).
While the striker didn’t get on the scoresheet that afternoon, he was still a handful for Brighton’s backline as he completed three key passes, three of his five dribble attempts and won five of his eight ground duels and two of his three aerial duels (Sofascore).
He also created one big chance and missed one big chance while registering four shots at goal. It was an example of how when the Spurs’ number nine isn’t scoring, he is still beginning to impact games.
Richarlison has turned his Tottenham fortunes around under Ange Postecoglou
After a difficult start to the season, Richarlison has really turned things around at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
As per fbref, his 10 league goals, with nine of those coming since December, leave him in the top seven per cent of his positional peers in the Premier League this season for non-penalty goals scored (0.67 per 90).
He also finds himself in the 93rd percentile for the number of touches he has made in opposition penalty areas (7.29 per 90).

His defensive commitment is also clear as he sits in the top one per cent of forwards in England’s top flight this season for the number of blocks he has made (2.07 per 90) and passes that he has blocked (1.67 per 90).
If he does make a return at Craven Cottage, he will be keen to find the back of the net once again at the same stadium where he scored his first goal of the 2023/24 season all the way back in August.
