Ange Postecoglou gets it wrong as Timo Werner starts for Tottenham v West Ham
Ange Postecoglou could regret his decision to start Timo Werner for Tottenham against West Ham after the forward’s performance against Luton Town.
Spurs are set to take on bitter-rivals West Ham United at the London Stadium (2 April).
Postecoglou will be keen to build on his side’s last-gasp win over Luton Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (30 March), where Son Heung-min scored in the 86th-minute to secure a 2-1 victory.
Meanwhile, West Ham will be heading into the London derby low on confidence after they let a 3-1 lead slip on Saturday as they lost 4-3 to Newcastle United at St James’ Park in one of the games of the season so far.
A victory by two or more goals on Tuesday night would see Spurs return to the top four and leapfrog Aston Villa, who face a tricky trip to the Ethiad Stadium to take on Manchester City on Wednesday (3 April).
David Moyes’ side are prone to shipping goals, with only four teams in England’s top flight this season having conceded more times than the Hammers (54).
As a result, Spurs supporters might perhaps feel confident of getting something from the game, although some of that confidence might have been dented as Postecoglou’s starting lineup was confirmed via the club’s X account (2 April).

Werner was not at his best against the Hatters.
As per Sofascore, although he played three key passes, he was only able to complete 77 per cent of his overall passes, and he only managed to complete two of his five crosses into the box.
In addition, he was only able to complete 25 per cent of his dribbles and missed one big chance as his struggles in front of goal continued.
He also gave the ball away 14 times and was poor defensively as he won just two of his seven ground duels and was dribbled past once.
Postecoglou will be hoping that the German can offer much more than he did against Luton last time out, otherwise, it could cost Spurs dearly in the race for a UEFA Champions League position.
In other Tottenham news, Postecoglou’s side must capitalise with one “superb” West Ham star missing tonight.
