Ange Postecoglou gets it wrong as Dejan Kulusevski starts for Tottenham v Luton Town

Ange Postecoglou could regret his decision to start Dejan Kulusevski for Tottenham against Luton Town after the forward’s performance against Fulham.

Spurs are set to welcome Luton to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday 30 March.

Postecoglou will be desperate to get back to winning ways after Fulham thrashed Tottenham 3-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday 16 March.

Two weeks have passed since that match, and while most of Spurs’ players have been busy with their national teams, Postecoglou would have been hard at work back at Hotspur Way as he looks to put things right.

It was a disastrous night at Craven Cottage as Tottenham failed to score under Postecoglou for the first time in the Premier League and the Australian will hope that his side can get back among the goals on Saturday, with the visit of Luton offering them the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Only Sheffield United (74) and Burnley (63) have conceded more times than Rob Edwards’ side (60) in England’s top flight this season, and Tottenham will know anything less than three points against the Hatters will be considered a failure.

However, Postecoglou looks to have made things more tricky for himself as Spurs’ starting lineup was confirmed via the club’s X account (30 March).

Kulusevski has been named in the starting lineup, despite his poor performance against Marco Silva’s side.

As per Sofascore, the Swede completed just 78 per cent of his passes against Fulham, with only one of those key.

He only managed to complete 50 per cent of his dribble attempts as he lacked quality on the ball and won just five of his 11 ground duels.

Kulusevski also gave possession away 19 times and was dribbled past once on an evening to forget for the 23-year-old.

Postecoglou will be hoping Kulusevski brings back some of his international form and turns things around after his performance against Fulham.

If he doesn’t, it could end up costing the home side in the race for UEFA Champions League football.
