Tottenham Women and Robert Vilahamn can no longer rely on Beth England after FA Cup final

Beth England has demonstrated that Robert Vilahamn can no longer rely on the Tottenham Women striker.

England enjoyed an exceptional debut season in North London.

Having joined the club from Chelsea in January 2023, the 29-year-old would finish the 2022/23 season as Spurs’ top scorer.

Ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, England was named Tottenham captain by Vilahamn.

However, she has had a difficult season which saw an injury keep her sidelined until November.

And despite a recent upturn in form, England’s performance in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup final proved that Vilahamn can no longer rely on his captain.

It looked in recent weeks as if England was getting back to her best, but her performance at Wembley suggested otherwise.

Spurs were beaten 4-0 by Manchester United Women on Sunday (12 May), and England did very little to impact proceedings.

As per Sofascore, while she did complete 83 per cent of her passes with one of those key, she also missed two big chances and won just one of her 11 ground duels.

Beth England has struggled for Tottenham Women this season.

She also failed with her one dribble attempt while making an error which led to a shot for United.

It was a disappointing performance from England and one which perhaps proved that she might be past her best in a Tottenham shirt.

While it could be argued that England often carried Tottenham on her back last season, those days certainly look to be behind her.

In other Tottenham news, the club have been backed to re-sign a former player after what happened in April.
